Pathetic attempt at poetry

Hey, I have to learn sometime if I'm going to be an English Teacher:

kara
pregnant married happy delightful
sister of joshua daniel and anna
lover of fresh air and flowers
fears giving birth
needs reassurement of love
gives love patience and an open ear
would like to see winter in august
resident of the northland
edberg

the leaf
floated gracefully
downward
after the storm
heavy with rain

ocean
crashing breakers
sweeping away the sand
forgotten memory gone forever
destroyed

A Franciscan Blessing

I thought this was kind of a neat blessing.

"May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, and superficial relationships, so that you may live deep with in your heart.

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people, so that you may work for justice, freedom and peace.

May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation and war, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn their pain into joy.

May God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in this world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done.

And the Blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be upon you and remain with you forever.

Amen."

Baby Update

I just thought I would drop by and give those who care another update on the baby.

We have been at the doctor and have heard our baby's heartbeat several times now. (It is always reassuring to hear that it is still alive :) )

I am starting to get a little bigger around the middle. So far I have not "shown very much. In a tight fitting shirt I definitely look pregnant. In the sweatshirts I wear, fitting the cold and dreary weather I just look like a fat girl (well a fat girl with skinny legs anyway.)

Justin and I have decided we want to know the gender of the baby before hand. I have my first ultrasound in two weeks. If the baby cooperates we will know then whether we are having a boy or a girl.

I am currently 18 weeks and 1 day along. Slowly approaching the halfway mark (pregnancy normally lasts 40 week.) At this stage a baby measures, on average, 5 to 5.6 inches from crown to rump and weighs about 5.25 ounces. it can yawn, stretch and make facial expressions, even frown. Taste buds are beginning to develop and can distinguish sweet from bitter tastes. The baby will suck if its lips are stroked and it can swallow and hiccup. The eyes have become sensitive to light and if a bright light is shone on the abdomen, the baby will probably move to shield its eyes.

Babies are so amazing.

Announcement

For all my friends out there who do not already know, Justin and I are expecting a baby!! This has been a very exciting and emotional time in our lives, especially since we were not expecting to be expecting. Our baby is due to be born approx. August 30, 2007. So if you do the math, I am 13 weeks along today and thankfully, everything is progressing well so far. We went to the clinic yesterday and were able to hear our baby's heartbeat, it was amazing. This has been a huge experience so far adding depth and quantity to our marriage.

After the baby is born, I plan on taking a semester off of school and then go back for next spring semester. Having a baby while we are still so young is going to be a challenge, but we have Faith that god will continue to provide for us as he has always so faithfully done. We believe that although this baby was not in our plans, he/she was in God's plan for our lives and at this time for a purpose.
